2 G.I.Joe faves... Monday, March 30, 2009

Wow! Just found these guys floatin' around at Target yesterday. My brother gave me a heads up that the second wave of G.I.Joe Combat Heroes was out, but this is the first I had seen them.
I'm not much of a die-hard G.I.Joe fan (I'll leave that to the little brother), but I've been loving these little Hasbro figures from the go. The G.I.Joe ones have been no exception. In fact, I'll go out on a limb to say the G.I.Joe ones might be the best franchise translation yet for this style!
As odd as it was that these 2 were packaged together, they both are favorites of mine from the old-school cartoon and I know Storm Shadow is always a fan favorite that is sure to make market value go up some. I had to pick 'em up!

It's right around the corner and my little fan-boy-ass is frothing at the mouth for 2 days of absolute Geekiness.

Mini Bounty Hunters Sunday, March 15, 2009

As I'm starting to organize some of my collection into boxes, I've been trying to snap some pics along the way.
I believe the Star Wars "Galactic Heroes" line was the first licensed line from Hasbro that had a cute, little animated look and was sold in a cool, 2-pack mini box.
I could be wrong on this. It may have been the Marvel license first.

Either way, these little guys got my attention!
I loved the condensed and unique packing and absolutely went crazy for the "mini-me", animated feel of the style.

I am a Star Wars fan; there is no question. I'm not the kind of fan that picks up "everything" Star Wars, though. I'll save that for my buddy, Lee. ;)
Having said that, I do have all of my original figures loose (not in the packages, for those that aren't familiar with the collector jargon) and DID start picking up the new line of 3" figures that was unleashed in like, 1995?? That only lasted awhile, though.

This new line of Galactic Heroes by Hasbro was the first Star Wars related collectible I began picking up after the mid-90's. Even though I loved this style, I began tapering off what I bought after the first release wave. I usually kept it to characters I really loved and sometimes ones that I hunched would be hard to find. Now, I really don't pick up much Star Wars-related these days.

In this case, I knew Boba Fett would be a fan favorite and man, who wouldn't pass up on Dengar and Boba Fett???

Did Dengar ever have a line in Empire Strikes Back??? Hmmmm...I think not.

***- as it turns out, these guys were shipped with 2 different backings. One has the "Star Wars" logo in Silver, one has it in orange. I clearly have the orange version but have yet to find it if one is more rare than the other. These retailed at $7 when they first came out and now, both versions are going for between $14-30 market value on Ebay.

Welcome!

Here is where I plan to shove everything "geeky" in my life.
I'm a grown-ass man that loves comic books, animation, action figures, collectible cds and dvds, posters and sports memorabilia.
"It's Getting Geeky In Here" shall be my online outlet.
There's no use making fun of me-I know I am geeky.
