Bowen's Daredevil Mini Bust Saturday, May 30, 2009

One of Randy Bowen's latest editions and one of my favorites.
The movie made a mockery of Marvel's Daredevil character unfortunately, but truth be told, Daredevil has been one of the most consistently, well-written books in comics in the last 15 years. It's a shame Ben Affleck and Director Mark Steven Johnson had to crap all over the Daredevil mythos when they introduced the character to the movie going public. The movie was a nightmare for Daredevil fans.

This is one of the MANY in my mini-bust statue collection as Randy Bowen is one of my favorite sculptors and his Marvel Comics license of characters hooked me from the start. These busts are always extremely quality in detail and portrayal of character and always stay somewhat consistent in look and feel over it's 13-year run. I hope to document most of my collection on this blog eventually.

DD's billy club wire, the extremely detailed Gothic base with the gargoyles and the paint job of the red costume coloring stand out in this piece.

Hasbro Mighty Muggs black costume Spider-Man Monday, May 25, 2009

The Mighty Muggs Line from Hasbro has been one of my all-time favorite toy lines since I began collecting. Their great renditions of Marvel characters are unique and a fresh look at shape and form. You know a figure is interesting when your girlfriend even comments that, "those are pretty cool looking figures".

This Spider-Man in his black costume was one of the tougher ones to find and therefore, I have kept him in the box, yet to find another one to buy and then open.

Highlights are the intricate detail on the front spider-emblem and the nod to costume accuracy with the white portion above the hand.

Curiously, on the back of the box, Hasbro's Mighty Muggs slogan seems to be:
"we look good in tights..."

Snikkt!

This little guy is a favorite and I always have him displayed around my computer desk.
Wolverine in wind up form!
Marvel did a brief line of these wind-up characters and I loved 'em!
Love the claws popped and the old school costume being right on!
